Kudermetova Comes From a Sporting Family
Kudermetova is the younger sister of another player on the WTA tour, Veronika Kudermetova, and the daughter of an ice hockey champion.
She has been ranked as high as 140 in the world, although she has currently dipped just below that.
Primarily she is to be found on the ITF tour, where she has won three singles titles in the past 12 months, the most recent of which came in Kazakhstan in March on hard courts.
That was two months after she had made her Grand Slam debut in Melbourne, after qualifying, although she subsequently lost in the first round.
However, she did not qualify for the French Open and skipped Wimbledon altogether.
Instead she was last in action in a Challenger tournament on clay in Sweden, losing there in the first round to the American Emma Navarro.

Another player with a sister who also played tennis, the difference in Schmiedlova’s case is that her sibling retired at the age of 21 through injury.
She herself has won three titles on the WTA tour, and appeared in two more finals, although the fact that the last of those was four years ago says much about her form since then.
However, her performance at the French Open gave hints of a green shoots of recovery, as she reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career. In doing so, she became also the first Slovak player to be involved in the second week of a Grand Slam.
Her two matches on grass both ended in first round straight sets defeats, including at Wimbledon.
But she is back on her favourite surface of clay again.
Kudermetova v Schmiedlova Prediction and Tip
Experience on the main tour alone makes Schmiedlova the clear favourite for this match, and, if she can find the form that took her to the fourth round of the French Open, there will be only one winner.

- Low Risk Tip: Schmiedlova to win: 5/9
- Moderate Risk Tip: Under 21.5 games in the match: 5/6
