Once ranked 35th in the world, Golubic has fallen to 139th on the WTA charts and as a result of that, hasn’t been able to play a lot of WTA level tournaments this season.
She did make it to the quarterfinals of the Nottingham Open last week and was then forced to qualify for Wimbledon – which she did with great difficulty. The Swiss player then made the second round there.
On clay, however, Golubic has rarely done well in recent times despite being a WTA winner of a tournament in Gstaad in 2016. In fact in 2023, she featured in just two clay court competitions at the highest level, losing in the qualifiers of the Charleston Open and falling in the first round of the French Open.
Can she now register her maiden win on clay for 2023 as she takes on the Italian wild-card who has never been ranked inside the top 200 in her career?

But even more so, Rosatello has had a struggle on her hands this season as wins have been tough to come by.
There have been two ITF competitions in recent times in which Rosatello has made the semifinals – both on clay – but other than that she has won a mere three matches all year. Add the 12 losses to go with it and you can see she has had a rather difficult time of it on court.
She has featured in this tournament on three previous occasions but each time she failed to make it to the main draw. No surprises who the favourite would be coming into this one.
