Stollar Doubles Her ITF Title Count This Year
Having first played competitive tennis in 2014, Stollar had won an ITF title the following year. Since then, however, she has failed to maintain that kind of a game on the singles circuit even as her doubles career has flourished.
Stollar has two WTA doubles titles to go with a third on the WTA 125 circuit while she has ended up a runner-up on three other occasions as well.
In singles, however, Stollar had gone eight years without even an ITF title before she looked to have turned things around earlier this season. In May this season, Stollar clinched the Orlando ITF competition win on clay to double her tournament win count.
Even earlier in April, she had made the semifinal of another such event in the USA.

Escorihuela Makes it Through the Qualifiers
The 25-year-old Spaniard Escorihuela has majorly focussed on clay all season like she has in the rest of her career and enters this tournament on the back of a 18-14 win-loss record across all circuits.
This includes successive wins in the qualifiers of this tournament where she defeated Melinda Biro and Nina Potocnik to enter the first round.
Escorihuela has also grabbed four titles on the ITF circuit including three on clay and earlier this season showed she can turn on the heat on this surface when she won her first ever career match on the WTA circuit in Madrid this season.
Needing to qualify for that event, Escorihuela then defeated Kaia Kanepi in the first round there despite starting a 3/1 underdog at it.
She will start off a favourite here though.
