Babos Improves Her Ranking to 191
The last time Babos was ranked in the top 100 was in 2020 before she ended the season at 115th. Since then, she has struggled to make it count at the highest level and found her ranking slip away slowly, but steadily.
She ended the 2021 season at 160th and followed it up with a year-end ranking of 336th in 2022.
Earlier this year, having not taken to court till the first week of March, Babos had slipped further down to 376th before she came back to competitive tennis.
The Hungarian has managed to turn things around in this period. In the four ITF competitions that Babos featured in, she won three titles and made the final of the fourth.
This was followed by her first attempt to play on the WTA circuit for the season. On the clay courts of Rabat, Babos made it through the qualifiers before winning her opener. Her journey was ended by Sloane Stephens in the second round.
Babos, who fell in the opening qualifier at Wimbledon, now features in her second WTA match on clay and will hope she can carry her ITF form forward here.

Bondar on a Five-Match Losing Streak
A semifinalist here last year, Bondar will hope she can repeat something similar but for her performances this season which have left a lot to desire.
The Hungarian looked to have overturned a poor run of form when she made it through the qualifiers and defeated Tatjana Maria and Karolina Pliskova at Rome to make the third round there.
Since then, however, Bondar’s form has fallen away drastically.
She lost to Qinwen Zheng in the third round at Rome and has then gone down in four successive matches in Paris and Valencia (in WTA 125 events) and the first round of the French Open and Wimbledon.
As a result, the once-72nd-ranked Bondar has fallen away to 144th in a matter of a few months.
She now has a chance to win a rare match against an equally struggling Babos but her opponent has won a few matches in recent times.
Babos v Bondar Prediction and Tip
Babos might be the second favourite here at 19/10 but we think she has the ability to test her opponent out here. Might see her win a set here.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Over 8.5 games in the first set: 4/9
- Moderate Risk Tip: Games Handicap +3.5: 1/1
