Zizou Bergs v Jurij Rodionov Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two players and rather interestingly they have all come on the Challenger circuit and on grass. Bergs leads 2-1, with both players having won a match apiece in 2023.

Bergs Shocks Djere
It’s been that kind of a tournament for Bergs where he has managed to surprise a few opponents and fans already.
While his clay form at the lower level of tennis has been exemplary, not too many thought he would even be playing in the main draw after he was drawn to face Thiago Seyboth Wild in the qualifiers. And when he fell a set behind, it seemed like the writing was on the wall.
Bergs shrugged off that slow start to upset Seyboth Wild there and then eased past Marco Trungelliti in the second.
In his opening main draw match, Bergs started off a 23/10 underdog against Laslo Djere and came up with a stunning performance in the first set, blanking his opponent.
Djere came back to win the second but a confident Bergs held on to his serve and in a stunning eighth game of the deciding set, broke his opponent off the eighth opportunity he got.
Can Bergs now make his first ATP quarterfinal of the season?

Rodionov Overcomes Huesler
Local lad Marc-Andrea Huesler started off his opening round match against the qualifier Rodionov as a 4/6 favourite but that’s not how the contest went. In fact it was Rodionov who played like he was the favourite from the get-go and came away a winner in the contest.
Rodinov registered a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Huesler in a match lasting an hour and 15 minutes to move into the second round of an ATP event for just the second time this season. He had earlier surprised Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the Estoril opener.
What proved to be Rodionov’s big saviour was his serve with the Austrian managing to not offer a single break-point in the entire match. He won 30 of his 36 first serves too and broke his opponent once apiece in the two sets to set up a second round meeting with Bergs.
Interestingly enough, Rodionov doesn’t start a favourite here and that’s a bit of a surprise given Bergs’ overall ATP record isn’t much to look at.
Bergs v Rodionov Prediction and Tip
Bergs had won just four main draw matches at the highest level before this tournament and only one on clay. Rodionov has a 5-9 record on clay and while it’s not extraordinarily good, he does have a better experience at it. We think this could get a lot tighter than the odds suggest (Bergs favourite at 4/6).
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Over 8.5 games in the first set: 2/5
- Moderate Risk Tip: Rodionov to win: 11/10
