Petra Kvitova v Ashleigh Barty Head to Head

Kvitova and Barty have played each other four times on the tour. The Czech has won all of those four meetings and presently leads the Aussie by 4-0. They have met twice already this season – the final of WTA Sydney and the quarterfinal of the Australian Open. Kvitova won both of those matches rather comfortably.

Yet Another Quarterfinal for Kvitova

Kvitova, along with Simona Halep, is in contention to reach the World No. 1 position and all she needs to do is reach the final. So far, things have gone according to the plan for her in Miami.

She started her journey with a straight-set win over Maria Sakkari and then faced the Croat Donna Vekic. After defeating her in three sets and avenging her loss in the St. Petersburg Open, she met Caroline Garcia in the fourth round. Kvitova defeated the Frenchwoman 6-3, 6-3, and made it to the quarters.

This is the fourth time this season that Kvitova has made it to the quarters. She won the title in Sydney and later, was a finalist in the Australian Open and WTA Dubai. The reigning Madrid Open champion had a brilliant season last year and this year too, she has moved forward with the same momentum.

At the same time, she has had her fair share of losses, most notable to Naomi Osaka, Venus Williams, and Vekic.

A Terrific Chance for Barty

Ash Barty has had a pretty brilliant time in Miami herself, moving past the likes of Dayana Yastremska, Samantha Stosur, and Kiki Bertens with ease.

She has been quite consistent over the last couple of weeks, reaching the fourth round in the Indian Wells Open. However, her start to the season was far more promising than her recent form, having reached the final in Sydney and the quarterfinal in Melbourne.

She now has a chance to Miami to move up further in the rankings. Last season, she won the Nottingham Open and WTA Elite Trophy and is currently enjoying her best singles ranking as the World No. 11.

Kvitova v Barty Predictions & Tips

Kvitova will start this match as the favourite to win. She has the momentum here and more importantly, the psychological edge in the form of a 4-0 lead. However, Kvitova is not immune to defeats and Barty, who has proven herself to be highly remarkable at times, can deliver the upset here. For her to do that, she needs to bring her best game forward and put early pressure on Kvitova.

Tip: Under 20.5 games in the match: 17/20 (Unibet)
