Some of the second-round action at the 2023 Lausanne Open will see Clara Burel take on Emma Navarro and Mirra Andreeva play Anna Bondar. Get the latest predictions along with the odds, preview, and head-to-head for these matches along with Elina Avanesyan v Chloe Paquet and Julia Riera v Elisabetta Cocciaretto.

Clara Burel v Emma Navarro Preview

Head-to-Head: Emma Navarro leads Clara Burel 1-0 in their head-to-head, winning that match in straight sets at the WTA 125K in Colina last year.

Former Lausanne finalist Clara Burel started her campaign this week with a fine straight-sets win over Olga Danilovic. The Frenchwoman enjoyed a very good day at the office, winning at least half of her return points.

Emma Navarro arrived at this week’s Lausanne 250 on the back of a career-high ranking of 53. Navarro has enjoyed a fantastic season highlighted by her unrelenting dominance on the ITF Tour where she has won three titles.

Navarro’s 6-0 6-0 win over Leolia Jeanjean was the kind of result not many envisaged including Burel. And I fear Burel’s poor serve will be punished almost as harshly as the way Navarro did in her opening match.

Burel v Navarro Tip

Navarro to win: 4/9

Mirra Andreeva v Anna Bondar Preview

Head-to-Head: This will be the first career meeting between Mirra Andreeva and Anna Bondar.

Mirra Andreeva lay waste to Dayana Yastremska, winning 6-0, 6-2 in her opening match. The 16-year-old phenom has enjoyed a breakout year on the main tour and is showcasing an incredible level of poise and maturity at her age.

Andreeva is actually going into her second-round match as low as 1/7 with the bookies. The Hungarian is a former top-50 player, but she’s been largely inconsistent this season. She appeared to have turned a corner in Rome where she reached the third round as a qualifier, tallying wins over Tatjana Maria and Karolina Pliskova.

But recent form doesn’t inspire so much confidence heading into this clash, and we can’t see anything but a straightforward win for the young Russian.

Andreeva v Bondar Tip

Andreeva to win in straight sets: 8/15

Elina Avanesyan v Chloe Paquet Preview

Head-to-Head: This will be the first career meeting between Elina Avanesyan and Chloe Paquet.

Elina Avanesyan benefitted from retirement by her opponent Evgeniya Rodina, but not she needed one anyway as she widely expected to win that match handsomely.

Avansesyan has played outstanding clay-court tennis in recent months, with perhaps the biggest surprise coming at Roland Garros where she defeated Belinda Bencic after entering the main draw as a lucky loser.

29-year-old Chloe Paquet passed qualifying here and defeated Reka-Luca Jani in straight sets. The Frenchwoman has a wealth of experience on the pro circuit, but Avanesyan clearly has a higher ceiling.

Avanesyan v Paquet Tip

Avanesyan to win: 3/10

Elisabetta Cocciaretto v Julia Riera Preview

Head-to-Head: This will be the first career meeting between Elisabetta Cocciaretto and Julia Riera.

Elisabetta Cocciaretto had an underwhelming tournament in Palermo, losing at the first hurdle in front of her home fans. But drawing Sara Sorribes Tormo in the first round is hardly a stroll in the park.

Cocciaretto, however, managed to bounce back in Lausanne, earning a hard-fought 3-6, 7-6, 6-2 win over home favorite Celine Naef on Tuesday.

Julia Riera got a first taste of Tour-level action in Rabat and she produced a spectacular run to the semis, beating seasoned campaigners such as Kristina Mladenovic and Yulia Putintseva.

Since Rabat, Riera chased for her fourth WTA main draw win, and it arrived in Lausanne where she defeated Patricia Maria Tig, who is still in the early stages of another comeback.

Riera’s game is still a work in progress, and Cocciaretto who has been tried and tested on the main tour should hold the edge.

Cocciaretto v Riera Tip

Cocciaretto to win: 1/5
