Matteo Arnaldi v Flavio Cobolli Head to Head

World no. 76 Matteo Arnaldi scored a straight sets win over the Netherlands’ Jesper De Jong in the first round of the Umag Open on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old seventh seed Italian got an early break in the first set and then protected the advantage till the end to take a one-set-to-love lead. He continued to dominate in the second, and broke the world no. 180 twice to build a 4-1 lead. De Jong did pull a break back, but Arnaldi restored the two break advantage immediately and closed out the match 6-3, 6-2.
Thanks to the win, Arnaldi improved to 21-6 on clay this season, and that includes two Challenger titles. Overall, he is 34-17 across levels, having also captured a hard court Challenger title this season.
Arnaldi, who beat Casper Ruud in the Madrid Masters this season, will be looking to reach his first tour level quarterfinal of the year.

Cobolli Upsets Cilic
World no. 148 Flavio Cobolli ousted Marin Cilic in straight sets on Tuesday to reach the second round in Umag.
Cobolli was not broken in the match as he saved all three of the break points that he faced. In contrast he held eight break points and he capitalised on three of them to win the one hour and 57 minute contest 6-4, 6-3.
The 21-year-old world no. 148 had qualified for the main draw with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Luca Nardi and a 6-4, 6-2 win over Zdeněk Kolář in the second qualifying round.
A quarterfinalist in Munich earlier this year, Cobolli improved to 30-16 on clay across levels this season.
Arnaldi v Cobolli Prediction and Tip
Arnaldi has won the recent matches between the two. He is also the more experienced of the two. Expect him to end the qualifier’s run in the second round.
