Eubanks Eases Past Martin
It did not take Eubanks too long to romp past the youngster Andres Martin as he booked his place in the second round with a straight-set win.
Eubanks, who hit a career-best ranking of 31st in the world this season, was on court for an hour and seven minutes as he eased to a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Martin.
He faced three break-points in the match but came out unscathed without a break of serve. At the same time he overcame his opponent’s serve on three occasions, having gotten himself 10 opportunities in the encounter.
This follows a solid season on both, hardcourts and grass, for Eubanks with the American having earlier made it to the quarterfinal of the Miami Masters after having started out as a qualifier. He would feature in only a couple of clay-court competitions before winning his maiden career ATP title on grass by overcoming Adrian Mannarino in the Mallorca Open.
And carrying that form forward, Eubanks made the quarterfinals at Wimbledon to seal a chance to break into the top 30 of the rankings have begun the month of February this year at 170th!

Nakashima Finally Wins One
After having gone on a three-match losing streak, Nakashima thwarted the Max Purcell challenge by overcoming his Aussie opponent in straight sets.
Nakashima won 6-3, 7-6 (5) in a match that took nearly two hours but would have given him some respite after the American had entered the tournament on the back of just one win from his previous seven encounters.
With break-points chances in each of the fourth, sixth and eighth games of the opening set for Nakashima, he finally converted his seventh chance to win the set.
In the set, things became even more difficult for the once 43rd-ranked player as he dropped his serve in the eighth game to allow Purcell to level things out at 4-4. Again, Nakashima had managed to fritter away six break-point chances and would then need to come back from 1-4 down to grab the tie-breaker.
He won’t get as many chances against the in-form Eubanks and will need to be a lot more clinical than he was in his opener.
