That Garin loves his time on clay is amply known and it was further exemplified by the fact that he did not feature in a single match on grass this season. Gojo Hasn’t Won a Main Draw Match Since January
Gojo’s rise up the rankings has been a slow and steady one but he is yet to break into the top 100 in his career.
The Croat is currently 13 places behind his career-best ranking of 102nd in the world having not played any competitive tennis since his opening round loss at Wimbledon.
In fact that defeat to Maximilian Marterer was another one in his list of continuous defeats in the main draws of tournaments at the highest level. Despite that, his ranking has climbed from his season low of 160th in the world thanks to his performance at the Challenger level.
In fact he had made the final of the Monterrey Challenger on hardcourts and then entered the semifinal in Waco as well.
Later he reproduced a similar result on the clay courts of Murcia and has been consistently doing well on that circuit. The question is if he can win his first main draw match since having done that at the United Cup in January.
