Sebastian Korda v Alexander Shevchenko Head to Head
There has been just one previous meeting and even that came in 2019 in the Futures circuit. Korda had won that in three sets.

Korda Hoping to Replicate Australian Open Showing
It’s been a bit of an up and down sort of a season for Korda and yet, he has been able to maintain a ranking of 26th in the world. That’s one spot away from his career-best ranking of 25th.
First the good part. Thanks to his performances at the Australian Open and the Queen’s Club competition, where he made the quarterfinal and semifinal respectively, Korda has been able to add to his points tally.
At the same time, Korda has been out of action for a few months due to an injury he suffered at the Australian Open where he had stunned Daniil Medvedev and Hubert Hurkacz on his way to the title-decider.
What that has meant is that in the rest of the competitions, Korda has struggled to get going. The clay swing was filled with defeats – three of them to go with just one win – but then at Wimbledon again, Korda returned with a first round loss at the hands of the 6/1 underdog Jiri Vesely.
Can he turn things around at home?

Shevchenko Edges Past Cressy
Maxime Cressy’s form issues have been well-chronicled but despite those problems he was a 1/2 favourite going into his opening round match against Shevchenko.
An hour and 41 minutes later, Shevchenko had saved two set-points on his way to a straight-set victory over his American opponent and set up this second round meeting with Korda.
Shevchenko won 6-3, 7-6 (8) after failing to serve it out at 5-4 in the second set and then falling 5-6 and 6-7 behind in the following tie-breaker.
What’s interesting to point out here is that Shevchenko is known for his clay-court play, having featured in more than 260 career matches on that surface spread across all levels as opposed to less than 60 in hardcourt competitions.
So much so that this win over Cressy was his first at the highest level.
Despite Korda’s up and down form, it could get very difficult for Shevchenko as a result.
Korda v Shevchenko Prediction and Tip
Korda should have no trouble here. Expecting him to win and win big and make the third round.
Tips:
- Moderate Risk Tip: Korda to win in straight sets: 10/11
