This comes on the back of Auger-Aliassime’s best ever season which had seen him win four ATP titles last year.
Having not played any competitive tennis since his first round exit at Wimbledon, it will be interesting to see how he goes in this opener against a player ranked 99th in the world.

Watanuki Benefits from Yibing’s Fitness Woes
Wu Yibing was leading 4-1 in his opening round match here against Watanuki before he was forced to retire after collapsing on court. That’s the second time that’s happened to him and could be a cause for a worry.
For Watanuki, however, it’s a chance to add to his ATP Ranking points which has already seen him rise to 99th in the world after having begun the season at 145th on the charts.
This has been down to his performances in hardcourt tournaments even before this with the Japanese player having made the semifinal at two of the Challenger events and the second round at the Australian Open and Miami Masters. Both those occasions saw him start off as a qualifier.
He now faces a player struggling for form and could look to take that opportunity to cause an upset win.
