For the second straight year, Linda Noskova is into the semifinals of the Prague Open.

The fourth seed is the only Czech remaining in the singles draw and she reached the final four with a straight sets drubbing of Slovakia’s Anna Karolína Schmiedlová.

The 18-year-old world no. 71 won 76% (25 of 33) return points and converted 6 of 7 break points to win the one-sided contest 6-0, 6-2 in just 55 minutes.

Noskova ad won her opening round match 6-1, 6-2 against America’s Elvina Kalieva. She followed that up with a comeback win over India’s Ankita Raina, winning the round fo 16 contest 1-6, 7-5, 6-1.

Noskova had reached her maiden WTA final in Adelaide this year, finishing runner-up to Aryna Sabalenka. She was also a quarterfinalist in Lyon and made it to the last eight in Warsaw last week. She will be looking to reach a second WTA final on Saturday.

Korpatsch Takes Down Cornet

A quarterfinalist in Prague in 2019, Tamara Korpatsch reached her first tour-level semifinal of the season on Friday with a straight sets win over sixth seed Alize Cornet.

Korpatsch, who had made it to the main draw through the qualifiers, won the first set in the tiebreak and then raced past Cornet in the second set for a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 victory.

The 28-year-old German is enjoying her run in Prague. She beat Viktoriya Tomova 6-2, 6-1 in the opening round and then got an easy pass to the quarterfinal after her second round opponent Yanina Wickmayer retired while trialing 0-4 in the first set.

The world no. 99, who is 1-1 from her Challenger finals, has never reached a tour level final and has a great chance of reaching her maiden final.

She has an overall record of 19-21 across levels this year, but has found form in Prague. Can she keep her amazing run goiung?
