Stefanos Tsitsipas v Alex de Minaur Head to Head

There have been nine previous meetings between these two players at the highest level and Tsitsipas has won them all. They last met at Barcelona earlier this year and Tsitsipas had run away to a 6-4, 6-2 victory.

Tsitsipas Routs Coric

After having survived a scare at the hands of Nicolas Jarry in the quarterfinal, Tsitsipas was at his flowing best as he cruised to a straight-set win over Borna Coric in the semifinal.

Tsitsipas needed a mere hour and 13 minutes to go past Coric as he registered a 6-3, 6-2 victory over his opponent.

In a match that saw Tsitsipas drop a mere seven points on his own serve – and that’s across nine service games – he also broke Coric three times in the encounter.

It was a much-needed showing from Tsitsipas, who in recent times hasn’t been at his clinical best despite reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon. Hardcourt performances, however, have been quite strong for the Greek number one this season and this seemed to have been a continuation of that.

He now faces a player who has never beaten him in a long history of matches and that makes him a very heavy favourite here.

de Minaur Struggles Against Koepfer

Dominik Koepfer might be ranked 84th in the world and isn’t quite at home in hardcourt competitions but he has shown what he is capable of in this competition. Still, de Minaur was a 3/10 favourite going up against Koepfer in their quarterfinal and when he grabbed a 4-0 lead in the first set the match seemed to be going to script.

Koepfer managed to hold on to his serve on a couple of occasions after that but de Minaur served it out to win the opening set 6-2.

And even things looked to have turned around drastically in the second, de Minaur came back from being 0-4 down to level things out at 5-5. Again, it looked the match was headed in the favour of the Aussie.

In the ensuing tie-breaker Koepfer found a way past his opponent to level things out though and when he went a break up in the decider, it seemed like de Minaur had suddenly lost his mojo.

The match showed one last twist as the Aussie then went on a breaking spree, getting the better of him in three.

Things could get a lot tougher against Tsitsipas though.

Tsitsipas v de Minaur Prediction and Tip

It’s tough to see de Minaur reversing his losing form against Tsitsipas as the two face off in this final. In fact we could see Tsitsipas win in two.

Tips:

  • Moderate Risk Tip: Tsitsipas to win in straight sets: 6/5
