One Win In Four For Spaniard

Alejandro Davidovich has won once in his last four matches. The Spaniard was on the cusp of a fourth-round spot at Wimbledon but squandered multiple match points, in a match that will be remembered for Davidovich Fokina’s infamous underarm serve at 8-all in the final set tiebreak.

Davidovich Fokina’s next outing came on red clay in Bastad where he was stunned by Slovakian qualifier Jozef Kovalik in the opening match in straight sets. He entered the match as low as 1/8 favorite to win.

After that early exit, he extended his stay on clay, this time taking the trip to Hamburg. He managed to beat a fatigued Pedro Cachin but was knocked out in the subsequent round by Luca Van Assche in three sets.

The 24-year-old has played his best tennis on hard courts this season, compiling a 10-6 record on Tour, and reaching at least three quarterfinals.

Davidovich Fokina, however, has lost in the first round on each of his two trips to Canada. In fact, he’s never won a main draw match in the two Masters doubleheaders before the US Open.

Wolf Finds His Feet On Hard Courts

After a straight sets defeat in the second round of Wimbledon, J.J. Wolf managed to bounce back on home turf, reaching a semifinal in Atlanta, where his campaign ended at the hands of eventual champion Taylor Fritz.

Wolf didn’t let that moment deter his confidence for the 500 event in Washington where he reached his fifth quarterfinal of the year with wins over Radu Albot and Michael Mmoh.

While Wolf has been to a semifinal of an ATP 250 event, his career highlight came at this year’s Australian Open where he made the fourth round of a major for the first time in his career.

Since he entered the world’s Top 50 earlier this season, Wolf has cemented his spot there, recording consistent results on his strongest surface and notching 22 wins thus far – the most he has managed in a single season at Tour level, and he’s still got a few months left to add up to that tally.

Davidovich Fokina v Wolf Prediction and Tip

J.J. Wolf is the man on form here, winning five of his last seven matches, all on hard courts. Davidovich Fokina has blown hot and cold all season and looks a little off-color as he starts his adventure across the Atlantic.
