Johanna Konta v Su Wei Hseih Head to Head
The two women have played each other five times before, with Konta leading their head-to-head series by three matches to two. Hseih won the first two, but Konta has won all the subsequent encounters, with their most recent meeting coming in Indian Wells this year where Konta thrashed her opponent 6-2, 6-0. However, Hseih did win their only previous match on clay.
Konta Now Hoping for Semi-Final Appearance
Konta came into Rabat out of form, and really had to battle to beat Wang Yafan of China on Tuesday, clinching a close match in the third set to reach this stage.
Having done so though, and pitted against somebody she beat so convincingly in California less than two months ago, she will rate her chances of making her first semi-final of the year highly.
That would be a massive boost to her confidence as she looks to regain the form that made her a top ten player not that long ago.
Hsieh, Battling Her Way through The Tournament
Hseih is currently 24th in the world, but has had her own struggles to get this far. First she was taken to three sets by Daria Gavrilova of Australia on Tuesday, and then had an even tougher match with Lara Arruabarrena of Spain on Wednesday.
A set and 3-5 down in the second, she found her form and battling qualities just when it was needed, and came back to win the match 7-5 in the third.
Clay is a surface that she finds difficult to trust, so those two wins will be a welcome boost to her confidence.
Konta v Hseih Predictions & Tips
Konta will start the slight favourite at 16/19, whilst Hseih is priced at 9/8. The Taiwanese player is the higher ranked and seeded, but was thrashed by Konta in their last meeting, and whilst the score line will be closer, the Briton should prevail again, perhaps in three sets.
