What Happened at the 2020 WTA Nottingham?

The 2020 edition of the WTA Nature Valley Open was cancelled because of the global virus illness.

In 2019, the top two seeds, Caroline Garcia and Donna Vekic gave the crowd a final befitting the occasion. They fought tooth and nail before Garcia edged out her Croatian opponent Vekic in three sets, coming back from a set down. She needed two tie-breakers to win the match and lift the trophy.

The seeded list was increased to 10 players after Yulia Putintseva and Dayana Yastremska withdrew from the tournament because of injuries. Ninth seeded Tatjana Maria went on to make the semifinal while the 10th seeded Evgeniya Rodina was knocked out in the first round itself.

Garcia beat Jennifer Brady and Vekic overcame Maria in three sets apiece to enter the final.
