The first edition of the Ostrava Open was organised in 2020 in a bid to get more tennis action for the WTA circuit after a number of tournaments were cancelled due to the coronavirus.

This time around, the Ostrava Open will be held on indoor hard courts, with a total financial commitment of $757,900 being made by the organisers for this tournament.
The singles draw will consist of 28 players while 16 teams will form a part of the doubles draw. 24 qualifiers will fight it out for a place in the main draw.
2022 WTA Ostrava Open Schedule & Dates
The qualifying rounds at the Ostrava Open will begin on October 1 while the main draw of the tournament will kick-start from Monday, October 3. 32 players will make it to the main draw including six qualifiers with the final of the tournament to be played on Sunday, October 9.

This is a rather strong field at the Ostrava Open with the world number one Iga Swiatek expected to take to court for the tournament. She was a semifinalist last year at this competition.

What Happened at the 2021 WTA Ostrava?
Anett Kontaveit won the 2021 edition of the Ostrava Open by defeating Maria Sakkari in the final. She won 6-2, 7-5 to lift her first ever title under the WTA 500 list of tournaments.
Kontaveit had earlier sent Petra Kvitova packing while Sakkari stunned Iga Swiatek in their respective semifinal while defending champion Aryna Sabalenka opted not to take part in the tournament.
Aryna Sabalenka had clinched the 2020 Ostrava Open by overcoming fellow Belarusian Victoria Azarenka 6-2, 6-2.
