The first edition of the Ostrava Open was organised in 2020 in a bid to get more tennis action for the WTA circuit after a number of tournaments were cancelled due to the coronavirus.

Interestingly, there was one edition of a WTA tournament played in Prostejov way back in 1999, where Slovakia’s Henrieta Nagyová defeated Silvia Farina of Italy in the final to lift the trophy.

This time around, the Ostrava Open will be held on indoor hard courts, with a total financial commitment of $757,900 being made by the organisers for this tournament.

The singles draw will consist of 28 players while 16 teams will form a part of the doubles draw. 24 qualifiers will fight it out for a place in the main draw.
