The WTA Shenzhen Open is a professional women’s tennis tournament that is played as one of the WTA International events. Played in the lead-up to the Australian Open, many of the top WTA players feature in this competition and you can get the latest 2020 WTA Shenzhen Open betting tips & predictions below.

It is played right at the beginning of the season, during the early weeks of January. As a result, it also serves as an ideal starting point for those athletes who are looking for a good run in the Australian Open.

Despite being a tournament in the WTA International category, the prize money purse here is always the highest at this level. Last season, it was $750,000 and we can expect it to increase in the 2020 Shenzhen Open. The tournament is played on outdoor hard-court surface.

Player List for 2020 WTA Shenzhen Tennis

We are still awaiting details on who all will be featuring at the 2020 WTA Shenzhen Open, so for now we will update you with the top players who took part last year. These include Aryna Sabalenka, Caroline Garcia and Wang Qiang as the top three seeds. The rest of the players are as follows.

Women’s Singles

Maria Sharapova, Caroline Garcia, Aryna Sabalenka, Jelena Ostapenko, Wang Qiang, Zheng Saisai, Zhang Shuai, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova

What Happened at the 2019 WTA Shenzhen?

Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed, went on to clinch the title by beating Alison Riske in three, hard-fought sets in the final. This was after both these players had no trouble in their respective semifinals, beating Wang Yafan and Vera Zvonareva to make it to the final.

Interestingly, the only other seeded player bar Sabalenka who made it to the Shenzhen Open quarterfinal last year was Maria Sharapova and it would be interesting to see if she participates in the tournament yet again. Sharapova has had her injury issues but the signs of a return seem good given she has opted to feature at the Mubadala Tennis Championships.
