Top seed Osaka came, saw and conquered in one of her easiest title triumphs of her young career. She creamed through all her four opponents in straight sets, after having gotten a first round bye. Osaka defeated Viktoriya Tomova, Yulia Putintseva, Elise Mertens and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to lift the title.
Second seeded Kiki Bertens was sent packing in the second round, as was the third seeded Sloane Stephens while the fourth seeded Angelique Kerber made it to the semifinals.
