This upcoming competition in the Zhengzhou is one of the many newish entrants on the circuit. It will take place the week after the US Open and will mark the start of the Asian swing.

The main draw matches for 2023 will start from Monday, September 11, with the final set which was to take place on Sunday, September 17.

What Happened at the 2022 WTA Zhengzhou?
The WTA Zhengzhou was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic while in 2022 it wasn’t held because of the allegations of sexual assault by Peng Shuai against Zhang Gaoli.
Karolina Pliskova, the top seed at the 2019 edition of the competition, went on to win the 2019 title by defeating Petra Martic in the final. She won 6-3, 6-2 to lift the title.
This was after Pliskova had a first round bye before overcoming Polono Hercog, sixth seeded Sofia Kenin and Ajla Tomljanovic in her next three matches. Martic made it to the final after sending out the fourth seeded Aryna Sabalenka in the quarterfinals and Kristina Mladenovic in the semis.
