What Happened at the 2020 Wuhan Open?

The 2020 edition of the Wuhan Open had to be cancelled after the tennis calendar was disrupted because of the pandemic.

Aryna Sabalenka made it two titles in a row at the 2019 Wuhan Open after beating Alison Riske in the final to lift the trophy yet again. The ninth seed won 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 to edge towards a solid end to the year after having not had the best of times in the first half.

Top seeded Ash Barty had a decent tournament till she was sent packing in the semifinal by Sabalenka while Kvitova was the other losing semifinalist, going to Riske 7-5, 7-5. Second seeded Karolina Pliskova went down to Daya Yastremska in round three while third seeded Elina Svitolina made the quarterfinal where she lost to Riske.
