Latest Miami Open Tips, Odds & Predictions for 2018
The Miami Open, also known as Miami Masters, is a 1000 series event on the ATP circuit and a Premier Mandatory event on the WTA tour. It is usually played in March and the ATP Miami Masters tips & predictions can be found below closer to the start of the tournament.
The 2018 Miami Open will be played from March 19 to April 1, 2018 in Miami, Florida, at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park. 1000 points are up for grab, which prove to be very decisive in the year-end rankings.
In the 2017 season, Roger Federer won the tournament in the men’s half of the draw.
Federer had a dream run in the starting of the season, having won the Australian Open and following it with back to back wins in Indian Wells and Miami Masters. He did so remarkably by overcoming his formidable adversary Rafael Nadal in straight sets (for the second time that season).
The tournament also featured other big guns such as Dominic Thiem, Marin Cilic, Stan Wawrinka and Kei Nishikori, but they succumbed in the early rounds.
Youngsters like Nick Kyrgios and Alexander Zverev made it to the final few rounds and it is quite likely that we might see them go the distance in the 2018 Miami Open.
Johanna Konta will kick-start the women’s section of the draw as the defending champion having won the title in 2017. The Briton won her second title of the season, with WTA Sydney being the first one.
On her way to the ultimate glory, she overcame players like Simona Halep, Venus Williams and Caroline Wozniacki.
That win made her the World No. 7 and she carried that confidence in her subsequent tournaments as well. Karolina Pliskova and Angelique Kerber also participated in the tournament, but only to lose in the quarterfinal.
Serena Williams didn’t participate in the tournament, but given the rumors about her return to the circuit in 2018, it is highly possible that she might conquer the WTA Miami Open once again.
