In more recent times, Andy Murray has won the title multiple times at the Queen’s Club Championships.

What Happened at the 2022 ATP London?

It was two title wins in a row for Matteo Berrettini, the second seed, who defeated surprise finalist Filip Krajinovic 7-5, 6-4 to win the tournament in London. Berrettini made it through to the competition win without having to play a single seeded player.

He did have to overcome Britain’s Dan Evans in the first round and then dropped his only set in the second round to Denis Kudla. Tommy Paul and Botic van de Zandschulp were then brushed aside without much ado as Berrettini reached the final.

Top seeded Casper Ruud was knocked out in the very first round by another Briton, Ryan Penniston.

Matteo Berrettini, who had gone into the top as the top seed, went on to win the Queen’s Club title for 2021 when he defeated Cameron Norrie in the final. In a tense final, Berrettini won 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-3 to lift the trophy.

The Italian’s road to the final consisted of wins over Stefano Travaglia, Andy Murray, Dan Evans and Alex de Minaur, all of which came in straight sets.

Norrie, on the other hand, was an unseeded player and took out Aslan Karatsev and Denis Shapovalov en route his entry into the final.

The 2020 ATP London competition was cancelled.

Spain’s Feliciano Lopez won the ATP London title for the second time in three years in 2019 after defending champion Marin Cilic was knocked out of the competition in round two. In what turned out to be an all-unseeded final, Lopez got the better of Frenchman Gilles Simon in three gruelling sets, winning 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 to lift the trophy.

This was after Lopez had earlier edged out eighth seeded Felix Auger-Aliassime and Simon had also needed three sets to get past Daniil Medvedev in their respective semifinals.

Top seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas made it as far as the quarterfinals before going down to Auger-Aliassime, and he was joined in the last-eight stage by Milos Raonic, the sixth seed, Diego Schwartzman and Nicolas Mahut.
