Linette Struggling to Go Deep Into the Tournaments
Last year the Polish player reached three quarter-finals, one semi-final and three finals in the year and ended up winning two titles, one on the WTA tour and another on the ITF Circuit.
But this season the 28-year-old has struggled to reach the business ends of the tournaments after doing well in the opening rounds. She did win the title in Hua Hin but apart from that, she has not reached a single tournament where she has reached the last eight.
She has played five tournaments since the season resumed after the break. But failed to get past the second round in three of them whilst at the US Open she reached the third round. Linette is currently ranked 36 in the world, just three short of her career-best. And if she wants to better that, she will have to find a way of going into the second week at Paris.

18-Year-Old Making Her Debut at the French Open
For someone who made her Grand Slam debut earlier in this year, Fernandez has risen the ranks very quickly. The Canadian reached the main draw in Melbourne via the qualifying stages before going out in the first round.
At the US Open this year, she reached the second round before losing to the 2019 champion, Sofia Kenin. And now she will make her debut at in Paris and has a chance to achieve a new career-high ranking.
Her first notable win came when she beat the world number five, Belinda Bencic in the Fed Cup qualifying round. The Canadian followed it up with an amazing run at the Mexican Open where she won 12 sets on the bounce to reach the final after starting from the qualifying stage. This was followed up with a quarter-final appearance at Monterrey where she beat Sloane Stephens along the way.
The 18-year old’s rise in the rankings has been sharp and after starting the season at 208, she has already broken into the top 100.
Magda Linette v Leylah Annie Fernandez Prediction and Tip
Fernandez has it in her to challenge the best in the business but Linette should have enough to go through. Her main problem is when she gets to the second and third rounds. Fernandez may still be able to take a set off her but the Polish player should go through eventually.
Tip: Linette to win in three sets: 3/1 (bet365)
