Diego Schwartzman v Albert Ramos-Vinolas Head to Head
There have been five previous matches played between these two players and Schwartzman has won every single time. All the encounters have come on clay, including their previous match that came in Cordoba itself last year.
The Argentine won that one 6-0, 7-6 (0) to enter the semifinal.

Schwartzman Checks Past Cecchinato
After bit of a mixed start to the season, Schwartzman kick-started his clay court swing with an easy opening win. Facing a tricky opponent in the form of Marco Cecchinato, Schwartzman wasted not a lot of time in delivering a 6-2, 6-2 win for himself and take his appointed place in this quarterfinal.
Having got a first round bye, Schwartzman then needed just an hour and 12 minutes in his first match on clay this season. He raced off to two breaks of serve in the first set to take a 5-1 lead and then went 3-0 up in the second set with another couple of breaks.
While Cecchinato broke the Argentine back once, Schwartzman returned the favour soon after to finish off the encounter in a jiffy.
Schwartzmman came into this tournament on the back of a third round exit at the Australian Open following a 1-1 win-loss record in the ATP Cup where he was beaten by the Australian Open finalist Daniil Medvedev.

Ramos-Vinolas Needs Back to Back Three-Setters
Seeded fifth in this tournament, Ramos-Vinolas has been in bit of a slug-fest in both his first two matches, but he would be pleased to have come through in the manner he has. In both those encounters, Ramos-Vinolas fell behind, losing the opening set, first to Juan Ignacio Londero and then to Tomas Etcheverry but came back nicely to complete the victories.
His victory over Etcheverry was particularly special. In a match lasting two hours and 45 minutes, Ramos-Vinolas was down an early break and then dropped his serve yet again while serving to stay in the opening set.
A break exchange over the first eight games of the second set took it into the tie-breaker where it seemed like curtains for the Spaniard when Etcheverry took a 5-1 lead. Ramos-Vinolas turned things around from there, winning six straight points in the tie-breaker.
The Spaniard then had a chance to serve out the match at 5-3 in the third set, dropped serve only to come back and break his opponent again in the 12th game to wrap up the match.
Schwartzman v Ramos-Vinolas Prediction and Tip
Ramos-Vinolas’ fighting qualities should help but Schwartzman on clay is a different beast and we expect a straight-set drilling here.
Tip: Schwartzman to win in straight sets: 4/6 (bet365)
