Team Europe mounted a solid comeback on the second day of the 2018 Laver Cup after it looked like they were catapulting to an easy defeat against Team World. Team World still leads 7-4 going into the final day though.

Having won three of the four matches on day one of the 2018 Laver Cup, things looked like they were headed their way yet again when Alexander Zverev and Roger Federer won their respective singles matches on day two. With wins on the second day worth two points apiece, that gave them a 7-1 lead over Team Europe with Novak Djokovic still to play his singles match.
Kevin Anderson then helped his side mount the fightback with a 7-6, 5-7, 10-6 win over the Wimbledon and US Open winner, before Team World won the doubles match yet again with a 6-3, 6-4. Jack Sock and Nick Kyrgios defeated Grigor Dimitrov and David Goffin in that encounter.
This followed on from day one where Team Europe had won all the three singles matches but came undone in the doubles.
The Federer-Kyrgios singles match was a much-awaited one given their recent history. Kyrgios has often been tipped to replace the the Big Four, such has been his talent but Federer has now demolished him in back to back matches.
Earlier the two had met at the US Open where Federer won in straight sets and in this encounter, he was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over the Aussie. At that stage, Team World would be thinking of an early exit but Anderson’s win over Djokovic and then the doubles triumph kept them in the rubber.
On day three, each win would be worth three points, which means Team World will need to win three of the four matches to win the Laver Cup. On the other hand, Team Europe can clinch their second successive title by beating Team World in two of the four matches that will be played.
Federer and Zverev will team up for the doubles match on the third day before Federer, Zverev and Djokovic will also take to court for their respective singles encounters. Anderson, Team World’s sole singles winner so far, can be expected to take part too.
