Alex Molcan v Roberto Carballes Baena Head to Head
While they have never faced off in the main draw of any of the ATP competitions, Molcan and Carballes Baena had played earlier this year in the qualifiers of the Madrid Masters. Carballes Baena had won that in straight sets.

At 38th in the world, Molcan is currently enjoying the best time of his career, and that showed in his game against Duje Ajdukovic. The Slovak eased past Ajdukovic in straight sets to set up this second round meeting with Carballes Baena.
A semifinalist last week at Hamburg, Molcan took full toll of the inexperienced Ajdukovic as he raced through the first set without too many worries.
It was only in the second set that his opponent managed to put up some fight – first breaking Molcan and then breaking back from 2-4 down – but once the set went into a tie-breaker there was no looking back for the world number 38.
Molcan will now hope he can put up another strong showing against another player who has been struggling for form in recent times.

No Opening Worries for Carballes Baena Either
Carballes Baena was a favourite going up against Henri Laaksonen and the world number 86 lived up to his top billing here. The Spaniard tamed his 110th-ranked opponent in straight sets to win his first main draw match at this level since his French Open opening win.
Starting out as 9/20 in his opener, Carballes Baena was a 6-4, 7-5 winner in a match lasting over two hours as Laaksonen tried to take toll of his opponent’s second serve.
In both sets, Carballes Baena broke his opponent in the very first game but then lost his own serve to allow Laaksonen that opportunity to come back into the encounter only to break him again and seal the encounter.
Against Molcan though, Carballes Baena will have to tighten things up a lot more as he looks to win back to back main draw matches for the first time since the Marrakesh Open in April.
