He was a rank outsider going into his second round match against Holger Rune but Miralles overcame a first set loss to stun his Danish opponent.
Miralles, who was 8/5 to win that encounter, registered a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Rune in a match lasting an hour and 49 minutes to march into the last eight stage of a tournament for the first time this year.
Down a set, Miralles needed to stave off four break-points in the very first game of the second set before pushing the encounter into the third with a break of serve in the eighth game.
The Spaniard then broke Rune twice in the final set and while he dropped his serve in the fourth game, he made it through with a third service break in the seventh game to move into the last eight.

Zeppieri Makes it Four Wins in a Row
Having qualified for the main draw of this competition with a couple of three-set victories in the qualifiers, Zeppieri has added on to that with two more wins in similar fashion to enter the last eight stage in Umag.
In defeating Pedro Cachin in the first round here, Zeppieri had registered his first ever career main draw victory and the Italian 20-year-old made it two in two when he overcame Daniel Elahi Galan in the second round.
Zeppieri won 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in two hours and 10 minutes to seal his spot next to Miralles.
Ranked 168th in the world, Zeppieri won 78% of his first serve points and 59% of the second serve ones, facing just two break-points in the entire match. He was broken just once but shrugged that off to dish it out thrice to his opponent.
