O’Connell Gunning for First Win in Three Months
The last time O’Connell won a main draw match in an ATP event was way back in May when he won his opener at Geneva against Albert Vinolas-Ramos. Since then, his ranking hasn’t allowed him too many direct entries into ATP competitions and as a result of that, the Aussie has been doing his rounds on the Challenger circuit.
A final at the Porto Challenger on hard court surfaces has been his best showing in recent times but a second round loss at the Chicago Challenger and a qualifying defeat in Cincinnati have punctuated O’Connell’s showings in recent times.
