Laslo Djere v Richard Gasquet Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2018 US Open where Gasquet was a straight-set winner.

For the third match in a row, Djere was taken to a third set and he managed to come through and register a victory.
Djere, who was once ranked 27th in the world, had come into this encounter at 6/4 odds to surprise his opponent, missed three match-points in the second set before claiming it in three. He won 7-6 (4), 6-7 (9), 6-3 in three hours and 11 minutes to advance to the last eight.
In a match where Djere was broken just once, he did a remarkable job in keeping his calm after those misses in the second set tie-breaker, as he broke through on a couple of occasions in the third.
Earlier, Djere had shocked David Goffin in the first round despite being 7/3 odds in that encounter before needing a third set tie-breaker against Joao Sousa.

Gasquet Emulates Djere
Much like Djere, Gasquet has also not quite been the favourite going into two of his three matches but has won them. More importantly, like Djere, all of Gasquet’s encounters have gone into a third set, including his third round encounter against Steve Johnson.
Gasquet won 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-3 to come through in two hours and seven minutes. It also made it just the second time this season that Gasquet won three successive encounters in a tournament.
The Frenchman was off to a rollicking start, taking a 4-0 lead but then lost four of the next five games and eventually the tie-breaker that followed too.
A late resurrection in the second set when Gasquet broke in the 10th game allowed him the luxury of parity before he broke again in the fourth game of the decider. He held on to his serve easily in the set, losing just two points off it to clinch the deal.
