While we are writing this preview, 17-year-old Linda Fruhvirtova is preparing to play her first WTA final at the Chennai Open.
The Czech player defeated Nadia Podoroska in a come-from-behind win in the semifinal on Saturday to book a place in a first WTA 250 final, where she is slated to play the third seed Magda Linette.
Fruhvirtova took down the second seed Varvara Gracheva in the second round in Chennai and had knocked out the fifth seed Rebecca Peterson in the Round of 16 in what has been an impressive campaign for her.
Overall it has been a good year for the World no. 130, who made it to the fourth round in Miami and the second round of the U.S. Open. Fruhvirtova has an overall season record of 29-18 from all levels.
This is her second appearance in Seoul. On her debut last year, she had made it to the last eight. She will come into the tournament high on confidence. She should safely go past the first round but could meet sixth seed Emma Raducanu in the second round if both players win their opening matches.

Wickmayer Has Mostly Struggled Recently
The last couple of years have been pretty tough for Yanina Wickmayer, who has struggled with form and also stayed out of the tour for quite some time. As a result of her struggles the former No. 12 is currently ranked no. 464 in the world.
Wickmayer recently featured at the Chennai Open, falling in the opening round of the tournament.
The 32-year-old five-time tour-level champion is 18-13 from all matches this year. She has not reached a final since winning her last title in 2016. And it seems highly unlikely that she can go that far any time soon.
The Belgian’s best this year includes a runner-up finish at an ITF event, while her best at the tour-level was a run to the second round of Wimbledon after qualifying for the main draw.
This will be her third appearance in Seoul. She was a quarterfinalist in 2008 and could only reach the second round in 2014.
