Marino, Having a Career-Best Season
31-year-old Canadian Rebecca Marino is having quite a year herself. With a tally of 43-20, she is the new World No. 81 and finds herself steadily in the top 100 for the first time since 2011.
Although she hasn’t quite bagged a singles title in 2022 (yet), she has been more or less consistent and made impressive strides. Most recently, she was a quarterfinalist in Chennai, Granby, and the Citi Open (the latter as a qualifier), alongside reaching round three in the US Open.
Marino also competed in three ITF finals this year, winning the title in Arcadia Pro Open.
Here in Seoul, Rebecca started off strong with a 6-1, 6-2 rout of Jana Fett in just an hour and seven minutes. In the process, she maintained an incredible 90% first-service win rate and won five games in a row.

Victoria Stuns Paquet
17-year-old Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva has just recorded her maiden WTA main-draw win in Seoul. Playing Chloe Paquet, she stunned the Frenchwoman 6-2, 6-2 with an 81% first-service win rate.
She started as a qualifier here in Seoul but lost to Lulu Radovcic. However, the lucky loser rule got her through to the main draw and round two.
The inexperienced player, hailing from Andorra (the first one from the country to reach a WTA main draw), is the current World No. 186 – which is an impressive feat in itself as she was ranking outside the top 400 at the same time last year.
She is a former No. 1 on the ITF Junior circuit, where she won the Australian Open in 2020 in addition to nine singles titles.
As a senior player, Kasintseva has three ITF finals – the most recent coming in Bendigo in January. She has also competed in all four majors this year – along with WTA Guadalajara and Monterrey – but lost in the qualifiers.
Victoria last played in Chennai, where she lost to Rebecca Peterson in the first round 2-6, 6-7(4).
Marino v Jimenez Kasintseva Prediction and Tip
One is a rising player who is gaining experience, the other is a tennis veteran making a comeback to the tour. Kasintseva carved an upset already and can do the same to Marino, although that will be tricky.
The Canadian is in fine form and poised well to win this one.
Tip: Marino to Win 2-0: 4/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
