Emma Raducanu will be proud of how she has performed this week in Seoul.
Following her three wins in the tournament, she is now set to compete in her first WTA semifinal since her title run in the US Open last year. The 19-year-old Brit has played in many tournaments since but couldn’t quite manage a deep run.
Raducanu achieved this feat in the ongoing Korea Open without dropping a set. In the first round, she beat Moyuka Uchijima and followed it with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Yanina Wickmayer. She took out the in-form Pole Magda Linette in the quarters with 6-2, 6-2.
Now ranked World No. 77, Emma has had an uneventful year in 2022 as she spent time building her form and experience. She is now 17-17, with her previous noticeable results being quarterfinal runs in the Citi Open and Stuttgart Open.

Ostapenko Remains The Favourite
Top seed Jelena Ostapenko has been impressive in Seoul as she looks to win the tournament for the second time in her career. A champion in 2017, the Latvian struggled to deliver deep runs in 2018 and 2019 but has managed to turn it around this time.
It hasn’t been easy as she found herself in a couple of three-setters against Boyoung Jeong and Anastasia Gasanova. In the quarters, things got easy for her as she beat the Andorran teenager Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva 6-2, 6-1.
Ostapenko is the current World No. 19 and has improved her tally to 28-15. She has racked up close to $1.5 million in prize money, coming from her four doubles finals (title run in Cincinnati and Birmingham, runner-up feat in Dubai and Eastbourne) and the singles title from Dubai Championships.
Jelena did struggle a bit in the US Open swing as she lost early in Toronto, Cinci, and New York. Clearly, there is a precedent for Raducanu to follow in her bid to beat the former #5.
Ostapenko v Raducanu Prediction and Tip
This is a high-profile match that can go either way. Ostapenko is the clear odds-on favourite, but Raducanu has shown that she can put up a fight and win big. Given her current form, perhaps this is the time when she finally gets back to her winning ways.
