Reka Luca Jani has been brilliant at the lower level tournaments this year and particularly solid on clay courts.
Overall the Hungarian is 54-29 in 2022, and has an exceptional 47-22 record on clay. This month, she reached her maiden WTA 125 final in Bucharest but finished second after falling to Irina-Camelia Begu in the title clash.
Jani also won an ITF title in Prague and was a semifinalist at the WTA 125 in Bari in what has been a very good September for her. She is 13-3 from all her matches this month.
The 31-year-old qualified for the main draw in Parma with a straight sets win over Tara Wurth in the first qualifying round and a come-from-behind three-set win over Gabriela Lee in the second qualifying round.
Jani, who has 25 titles from 42 ITF finals, has a 23-15 record in clay court finals. The world no. 104 will look to carry her qualifying round form into the main tournament.

Schmiedlova Enters the Main Draw
Anna Karolina Schmiedlova knocked out America’s Alycia Parks 6-2, 6-2 in the second qualifying round on Sunday and qualified for the main draw.
The Slovakian had also won her first qualifying round match in straight sets, beating Italy’s Jessica Pieri 7-5, 6-4.
Schmiedlova has sen a lot of ups and downs this season, and a 22-23 season record is a testament of that. She has been at her best on clay courts, where she has a 16-14 record.
While she has mostly struggled at the tour-level, bringing a 6-16 main draw record into the tournament, she did reach a WTA 125 semifinal and made it to the quarterfinals of three other WTA 125 tournaments.
Most recently she made it to the last eight in Budapest last week.

Jani has been excellent throughout the season and is looking particularly dangerous this year. Expect her to begin with a straight sets win.
