Brooksby and Wu have never faced off before this.

Brooksby 8-6 on Hard Courts Since Start of US Open Series

Brooksby’s another of those young American players who is coming through the ranks and has been tipped to be the next talented player to watch out for. And he looked to have started off at the US Open Series in a manner that confirmed that belief.

At the Atlanta Open late in July, Brooksby defeated John Isner and Frances Tiafoe to make the final where he went down to Alex de Minaur. However, since then, Brooksby hasn’t shown as much sparkling form as he did there.

First round losses at Washington and Cincinnati followed, while he made just the second round at Montreal. At the US Open again, there was a bit of turnaround as Brooksby reached the third round before the eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz took him down.

More recently, Brooksby had a first round bye at San Diego and required three sets to overcome Mackenzie McDonald in the second. That’s where it ended for him though with Christopher O’Connell taking him out in the last eight.

Can Brooksby find some of his touch back and go as far as he did in Atlanta here too?

Wu Comes Through the Qualifiers

Ranked 212th in the world, Wu needed to overcome a first set loss to the 601st-ranked Duck Hee Lee in the opening qualifier in Seoul before stunning Ryan Peniston in the second qualifying round. He won that in straight sets.

The last time Wu made the main draw was in Washington in August, where he fell to Alexei Popyrin, having to retire from that first round match due to injury.

That was his only such appearance this season, as Wu’s ranking has forced him to participate on the lower circuits – the Challenger and Futures.

The good news for Wu is he has recovered from his fitness issues, having also played in the Davis Cup about a week ago and won both his singles matches. Can he, however, put up a fight against Brooksby?

Brooksby v Wu Prediction and Tip

Brooksby should have no difficulties on paper but the one factor to watch out is if he has acclimatised himself outside of America, having played there for the best part of over two months.

Tip: Brooksby to win in three sets: 7/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
