It’s surprising that a player of the calibre of Rogers, who is currently 35th in the world and has made it to the top 30 of the WTA Rankings too, is yet to win a WTA title.
For the third time in her career, Rogers came perilously close to winning her maiden WTA title when she reached the final of the San Jose Open last month but was undone by Daria Kasatkina.
Rogers, who would later reach the third round at both, the Cincinnati Open and US Open too, would believe she deserved that title.
After all the American had reached there with wins over Bianca Andreescu, Maria Sakkari, Amanda Anisimova and Veronika Kudermetova, all of whom were favourtites going into their matches against Rogers.
What that run, however shows is that the American is capable to a lot more than her current world number 35 ranking and she would hope she can do that here.

Bonaventure Makes it Through Tallinn Qualifiers
Bonaventure was a favourite going into both her qualification matches and registered back to back straight-set wins to make it to the main draw here.
It will only be Bonaventure’s second main draw outing for the season, after having last played at that stage of a tournament at the French Open. Again, the Belgian player had made it to the first round via the qualifiers.
Earlier this season, Bonaventure had featured in a few indoor tournaments at the ITF level, reaching the semifinal at Nur-Sultan and added a quarterfinal appearance at Croissy-Beaubourg as well.
