Bencic Off to a Blazing Start

Belinda Bencic started her 2022 Tallinn Open campaign on a scintillating note with a commanding 6-0, 6-2 win over Elena Malogina in the first round.

On the whole, the 25-year-old has had a pretty good season so far. She is the current World No. 14 with a title run in Charleston Open and the runner-up feat in the German Open being her two highlights.

Her tally now stands at 34-16 and has been more or less consistent over the last few months. Most recently, she featured in the US Open where she reached round three before bowing out to Karolina Pliskova in three sets. That result was preceded by consecutive quarterfinal runs in Lausanne and Toronto, and a shocking first-round loss in Cincinnati.

As a former #4 and an enviable resume against the elites on the WTA Tour, she will fancy her chances of another commanding win over Boulter.

Boulter Moves Past Cristian

Katie Boulter commenced her campaign in the tournament as a qualifier and beat Ingrid Neel and Daria Snigur to reach the main draw.

In the opener, she dispatched Jaqueline Cristian with remarkable ease, winning 6-3, 6-1. That win was among her her better performances of the season, especially considering that it has been a largely underwhelming year for her.

Boulter’s record may be 21-13 but her ranking in the mid 140s and a lack of silverware tell a different story. The Brit managed just one ITF title and reached the mid-rounds in the Birmingham Classic and Eastbourne International.

As for her recent results, she is 1-4 – including her first-round losses in ITF Santarem and the Concord Challenger.

Bencic v Boulter Prediction and Tip
