Maria Sakkari v Maryna Zanevska Head to Head

Form has been an issue for Sakkari in more recent times and has seen her ranking take a fall from third in the world to her current ranking of seventh. And even in this tournament, it’s not as if things have been ultra-smooth for the Greek number one.

Sakkari needed to overcome the loss of the first set tie-breaker against Kateryna Kozlova in the first round before needing to do that all over against Arantxa Rus in the second.
Down a set, Sakkari rallied back to register a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory that saw her enter the last eight stage of the competition, winning her first set of back to back matches since this Wimbledon.
The last time Sakkari won three in three is the WTA Berlin in June this season after having done it four times in a row in the first three months of the year. Can she get back to those winning ways?

Zanevska Smashes Galfi to Pieces
Much like how things transpired for Zanevska in the first round, it was no different for the world number 97 in the round of 16 as well as she registered a straight-set victory over Dalma Galfi.
Zanevska was on court for a mere hour and 16 minutes as she came through 6-1, 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals of an event for the fifth time this (including WTA 125 tournaments).
Such was Zanevska’s dominance, she did not face a single break-point in the entire match while breaking her opponent’s serves four times from nine attempts.
And while Sakkari is way higher-ranked than Zanevska, the difference could be in the manner in which the Belgian performs on clay – her favourite surface.
