Following a first round bye and win over Jaume Munar in the second round, Shapovalov continued his solidity as he came through against Radu Albot in the quarterfinal in Seoul.
The Canadian registered a 6-2, 6-2 victory in a mere 73 minutes to carve out a second ATP semifinal appearance for the season.
While Shapovalov got only 63% of his first serves in, he faced no break-points in the entire match, while helping himself to four breaks from the 10 opportunities he got.
Shapovalov had earlier made it to the third round at the US Open as well, but it’s been four months since he won three matches in a row. Can he make that happen this time around as he takes on the world number 46 in an attempt to make the title-decider?

Brooksby Benefits from Norrie Withdrawal
Cameron Norrie’s solid form this this season meant he was an overwhelming favourite going into his quarterfinal against Brooksby. The American, however, benefitted from Norrie’s withdrawal just an hour before the start of the match citing illness.
Norrie, who recently broke into the top 10 of the ATP Rankings this year, suffered from a jetlag, having travelled half the globe to feature in this competition.
Not that Brooksby will mind too much as he looks to feature in his third semifinal of the season. Earlier this year, he had made it all the way to the final of the Dallas Open, and repeated that feat in Atlanta.
At both those competitions he finished runner-up but will hope to do one better here. First things first though, Brooksby will need to get past Shapovalov in this encounter.
Shapovalov v Brooksby Prediction and Tip
Shapovalov is a favourite, more so after the kind of form he has shown. The one advantage that Brooksby does have is he would be fresher but with just two matches played over this week, Shapovalov shouldn’t be in much of a strife.
