Anett Kontaveit v Kaia Kanepi Head to Head
Although the pair know each other well and have played Billie Jean King tennis together for Estonia, they have yet to meet in a competitive match.

Kontaveit Continues to Make Hard Work of It
Although Kontaveit remains on track to win this maiden home event, she will be the first to admit that it has been a struggle for her in Tallinn.
Her struggles began in her first round match against Wang Xiy of China and it took a dropped first set for her to wake up to the challenge and win the next two.
Tereza Martincova of the Czech Republic posed few problems in their second round match, and was dismissed for the loss of just three games.
However, any thoughts that the qualifier Ysaline Bonaventure of France, the world number 138, would prove to be equally easy meat in Friday’s quarter final were soon dispelled.
The Estonian began well enough, breaking the Frenchwoman in her opening service game and consolidating her lead to claim the first set.
And, when she broke again at the start of the second set, all appeared to be going to plan.
Bonaventure had other ideas, though, broke straight back, and then broke again, going on to level the match.
Kontaveit regrouped, broke early in the third set, and, although she could not convert any of the other break opportunities that came her way, she had done enough, although her performance was hardly convincing.

Kanepi Guts It Out
Kanepi ensured that the Tallinn crowd got the semi-final that they wanted – but only just.
The veteran had begun the week well, defeating the number five seed Jelena Ostapenko in three sets, and then went on to beat the world number 62, An Li of the USA, in straight sets.
On paper, her quarter-final opponent, Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic, was the easiest of the three she had met, although her current world ranking of 224 belies the fact that she was once on the verge of being a top 20 player before a series of injuries.
Kanepi, though, began well, broke serve in the opening game of the match, and then another break helped her cruise to the first set.
When she broke at the start of the second set, she would have been hoping for an early end to proceedings. Muchova, though, broke back, and then secured another break, enabling her to serve out to level the match.
The third set became a dog fight with neither able to forge any permanent advantage, and it went to a tie-break. Muchova went two mini-breaks down, got one of them back, and not only saved two match points but fought back to level proceedings again.
Finally though, when Kanepi forced a third match point. Muchova could not prevent the Estonian from converting it.
Kontaveit v Kanepi Prediction and Tip
Whatever happens, the maiden Tallinn Open final will have a representative of the home nation.
Kontaveit because of her long service to Estonian tennis, may be the sentimental favourite with the local crowd, but she is now 37, and the match with Muchova may have taken a lot out of her. That may shift the odds in favour of the top seed.
