Krejcikova Into Second Final of the Year

Barbora Krejcikova is into her second final of the season. The Czech, who was hampered by injury during the clay season and remained out of form for most parts of the season after a bright start, seems determined to end the season on a high. She has played some great tennis this week as a result of which she is back in a WTA final.

Krejcikova was a finalist in Sydney and a quarterfinalist at the Australian Open. But since then she hasn’t been at her best. Now she has a chance to claim her first singles title of the season.

The World no. 27 has already won three doubles titles this year, which includes the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.

She had won her first three singles titles last year during a brilliant 45-17 season, which included her first major in Roland Garros.

Krejcikova began her Estonian challenge by beating Ajla Tomljanović and Marta Kostyuk in straight sets in the first two rounds. She then knocked out the in form Beatriz Haddad Maia in the quarterfinals before ousting the second seed Belind Bencic in three.

Against Bencic, it was the first time when the Czech dropped a set in the week. She lost the opeing set in the tiebreak, but bounced back in the second by winning a tiebreak as well. She took control of the third by breaking early and then broke again in the final game for a 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 victory.

Can she win another match and clinch her fourth career title?
