Jasmine Paolini v Dayana Yastremska Head to Head
There have been four previous meetings between these two before this and Paolini leads Yastremska 3-1 on head to head.
Paolini won their first three matches, all of which came in 2021 while earlier this year, Yastremska managed to pull one back at Lyon where she clinched their quarterfinal encounter.

Paolini Surprises Kostyuk
It took Paolini nearly two hours but in the end, the Italian player found a way to overcome a set deficit before carving out a victory over Marta Kostyuk in her opening round encounter.
Paolini won 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 in an hour and 58 minutes in a match that saw a whopping 13 breaks of serves overall.
Stalling Kostyuk’s 10 aces Paolini scored over her opponent by her more consistent play as she won 56% of her first serves and 59% of her second as compared to 75% and 23% respectively for her opponent.
The third set saw four successive breaks of serves taking them to 3-3 before Paolini broke Kostyuk in the seventh game for a decisive turn of events. She managed to hold on to 15 in the two service games that followed to complete the victory.

Yastremska Finally Wins a Match. Like, FINALLY!
It was in June, in Birmingham when Yastremska had last walked out of the court with a winning smile on her face. Going into her match against Jelena Ostapenko as a second favourite, Yastremska had carved out a three-set victory.
Little did she know that in the eight matches that would follow after that, Yastremska wouldn’t find herself another victory. Forget winning a match, Yastremska hadn’t won a set in all of this.
Which is why, despite coming into her opener as a 4/5 favourite to win it, Yastremska might not have been sure she would manage to do it.
Tamara Korpatsch, her opponent, might have managed to put some doubts in her mind too by levelling the encounter in the second set but in the end, a close third set tilted in Yastremska’s favour, with the Ukrainian player winning 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 to reach round two.
