Roberto Bautista Agut v Laslo Djere Head to Head

They played once and Bautista won that match.

Bautista Agut Hoping to End Losing Streak

Roberto Bautista Agut is on an active losing streak having lost the final three times he took to the court. The Spaniard is generally a fairly solid indoor player with some finals in those conditions. His last win came in Astana over Pavel Kotov.

He lost to Daniil Medvedev in the quarter-final there and his next two performances have been losses. The first one was to Korda in Gijon and then to McDonald in Antwerp. While not shocking those losses od indicated that his form has dropped off somewhat in the past several weeks and that is something that Djere can exploit.

Bautista’s game is not ideally suited for indoors but he’s good enough. Precise groundstrokes are useful for him to wear down his opponents before delivering the final winner. Djere is not that great at defending so that’s how Bautista will most likely approach this matchup.

Djere Qualifies for Basel

Laslo Djere had to play the qualifiers in order to get a place in the main draw of Basel. He passed the test winning two close matches in three sets. The draw was not that kind giving him a player that bested him the only time they played.

Still, the Serbian will have some things to offer here, especially if his serve is point. That’s his best weapon for these conditions as the forehand is solid but a prototypical clay forehand that works best on that surface. I don’t think he can win but he can certainly make this match interesting.

His overall career record indoors is 26-38 and it clearly shows that he plays his best tennis away from conditions like this but having already won two matches this week certainly can give him some confidence ahead of this tricky matchup.

Bautista Agut v Djere Prediction and Tip

For me, the best value here is the over. Bautista has not been playing that well and Djere is not better indoors. I could see it being a close and competitive one but unsure who will take it.
