Carlos Alcaraz played a pretty strong match to defeat a solid Botic van de Zandschulp in two sets. It was not a perfect match as he dropped his serve in the second set complicating things for himself but he was able to pull it out in two. It was the best tennis he showed since the US Open overall.
Alcaraz is playing his second event since that triumph as he lost in round one of the Astana Open against Goffin. Practicing certainly helped him since then because he is looking far better and more consistent with his tennis here.
The conditions are rather slow which is something he complained about but he adjusted well.
He said before the event that he wants to win it and he elevated his level from round one to round two which is a trend you can expect for this match as well. He is very familiar with his opponent and knows his game well which helps him as well.

Carreno-Busta Survives Stricker
Pablo Carreno Busta had to work really hard to overcome native player Dominic Stricker needing three sets to win the match. He could have done it in two and he certainly didn’t need to play such a long match that almost went past midnight but that’s what happened.
He won’t feel too fatigued as he had a day off but it was certainly not as good of a performance as he had in round one over Baez. The opponent was tougher as well and Alcaraz is the best out of all of them. Their previous clash easily went to Alcaraz and I expect something similar here.
Carreno Busta simply does not have the necessary skills to outplay Alcaraz, at least not if they both provide their best.
He can serve well and he’s not afraid to go to the next which are some of the things that he can do but from the baseline, he has no chance.
Alcaraz v Carreno-Busta Prediction and Tip
This for me will be a straightforward match. It could go over and it could go to three sets but I have full confidence in Alcaraz.
