The red-hot Felix Auger-Aliassime extended his perfect record over World no. 1 Carlos Alcaraz to 3-0 as the Canadian knocked out the Spaniard 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinal in Basel on Saturday.

Dominating the one-hour-and-22-minute contest, the world no. 9 saved the only break point that he faced in the match and capitalised on 3 of 8 breaking opportunities to end the 19-year-old’s dream of reaching an eighth final of the season.

Thanks to the win, Auger-Aliassime has now entered a third consecutive final and will be looking to complete the hat-trick of titles on Sunday. The Canadian lifted back-to-back titles in Florence and Antwerp over the last two weeks.

He is on a 12-match winning streak and looking unstoppable at the moment. A three-time winner from the past 12 finals, Auger-Aliassime had also won his first ever ATP title earlier this year in Rotterdam. The Basel final will be his fifth of the season and only once has he tasted defeat and that was in Marseille.

Although the 22-year-old has dropped a set en route the Basel final, he has not been broken in the tournament. Auger-Aliassime, who has served 46 aces in the tournament, lost the opening set tiebreak to Marc-Andrea Huesler in the first round, but has looked extremely comfortable since then. After the three-set opening round win, he defeated Miomir Kecmanović 6-1, 6-0 in the second round and Alexander Bublik 6-2, 6-3 in the quartefinals.

Can he keep his streak going in the final?

Rune Into Third Straight Final

Just like his Sunday’s opponent, Holger Rune, too, has been in sensational form in October and on Saturday, the 19-year-old Dane marched into a third consecutive final with a straight sets win over Roberto Bautista Agut.

Rune, who has not dropped a set this week, extended his current streak to nine matches. After losing the Sofia Open final to Huesler earier this month, he claimed his second career title last week in Stockholm by beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.

He has carried that form to Basel, where he reached the final without being broken in the entire week.

Rune’s road to the final included wins over Alex de Minaur and Ugo Humbert in the first two rounds, Arthur Rinderknech in the quarterfinal and Bautista Agut in the semifinal on Saturday.

That win over Bautista Agut saw the Dane serve 11 aces and hit 46 winners on his way to a 7-6 (7-1), 7-6 (8-6) victory.

This is Rune’s fourth career final and fourth of his breakthrough season. He was crowned the champion in Munich and Stockholm. Can he add a third on Sunday.

Auger-Aliassime v Rune Prediction and Tip

This is fitting finale between two players in outstanding forms. Expect this to go the distance with the more fancied Auger-Aliassime extending his streak and claiming a hat-trick of titles in October.
