Kiki Bertens v Viktoria Kuzmova Head to Head

The two players have never met before prior to this encounter.

Bertens Looking to Recapture her St. Petersburg Run

The 27-year-old Dutch has had a pretty interesting start to the season so far. She started in the top 10 and has done well to retain her spot in the same. While her Australian Open series wasn’t that eventful, barring her run in Sydney where she was a semifinalist, she did move on to win the Premier event in St. Petersburg earlier this month.

It was quite a performance by Bertens, who downed Aryna Sabalenka and Donna Vekic in the final few rounds to get title collection going. That was her eighth title of the career and it is quite impressive to note that she won three of those as recently as the last year.

In addition to Charleston, she won the Cincinnati Open and Korea Open in 2018 and was also a runner-up in Madrid.

Most recently, Bertens played in Doha where she lost to the eventual champion Elise Mertens in the quarterfinal in straight sets.

Kuzmova Hoping for a Repeat of Auckland

Kuzmova, who is just 20 years of age, had a brilliant start to the season in Auckland, where she reached the semifinal. While she ultimately lost to Julia Goerges, that run propelled her into the top 50.

Since then, Kuzmova has spent her time on the tour trying to repeat that feat again (and go the distance this time) but her efforts have been in vain. In Hobart and Melbourne, she lost in the second round itself while in St. Petersburg, she couldn’t get past the qualifiers.

However, as a doubles player, she reached the final there with her partner Anna Kalinskaya. She ultimately had to settle for the runner-up trophy but it is a good confidence boost for the young Slovakian nonetheless.

Last year, she reached the semifinal in ‘S-Hertogenbosch and also had some success on the ITF circuit, winning one title and collecting four runner-up trophies.

Bertens v Kuzmova Predictions & Tips

Bertens will be the favourite here with Betway offering 2/9 for it. While she will be expected to win this one comfortably, she needs to remember that Kuzmova is a very talented player who is known to deliver a few surprises here and there.

  1. What a terrible bad “dutch” comment during the match Kiki Bertens vs Victoria Kusmova. I turned off the sound and watched the match without comment! Who did the comment during this match?
