This will be the first career meeting between Dayana Yastremska and Moyuka Uchijima.

Yastremska Returns to Hua Hin
Dayana Yastremska holds fond memories of the Thailand Open. She miraculously won this tournament back in 2019, fighting back from the brink of defeat to upend Ajla Tomljanovic in the final match.
She would add one more WTA title later that season, but the Ukrainian has not lifted any piece of silverware since, finishing runner-up twice in the past two years.
Having come within touching distance of a Top 20 breakthrough, Yastremska has fought a doping ban in 2021, and the mental trauma of events back in her homeland in 2022 which has decelerated her projected rise.
In fact, last year, Yastremska reached her fifth WTA final in Lyon as a wild card shortly after leaving war-torn Ukraine. The 22-year-old has elected to return to Hua Hin rather than complete her unfinished business in France.
Yastremska hasn’t won a match in 2023, having lost to Anhelina Kalinina in Adelaide qualies and the first round of the Australian Open to Jelena Ostapenko.

Uchijima Falls Short In Melbourne
Moyuka Uchijima came close to posting her maiden main draw win at Grand Slam level. The 21-year-old took the first set in her opening match at the Australian Open against Bernarda Pera.
But she was upended in three sets by the experienced American who clawed her way back into the match breaking Uchijima five times. There were plenty of learning points to pick up for Uchijima despite a chastening loss.
Uchijima is a fast-rising Japanese star, currently her country’s No. 2 player behind Naomi Osaka. Having been ranked outside the Top 400 in 2021, she is now just a few spots from entering the Top 100.
She played splendidly at the ITF circuit last year, and on the rare occasion, she got the chance to play at Tour level, she impressed. Uchijima reached a WTA quarterfinal in Monastir in Tunisia – her best result on the WTA Tour.
Yastremska v Uchijima Prediction and Tip
Yastremksa will need to be on top of her game here to avoid the upset. Uchijima is one of the fastest-rising Japanese young players and has a solid baseline game. Look out on the games market in this one.
