Paula Badosa will make her return from an abductor injury that kept her out of the year’s first Grand Slam.

Our 2023 WTA Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open Predictions & Picks
Playing a tournament right after a Grand Slam might be arduous, especially for those players who made deep runs in Melbourne just a few weeks ago.
However, Australian Open runner-up Elena Rybakina could defy that logic. She has played very well in the Middle East before, reaching the final in Dubai in 2020, and the quarterfinals in Abu Dhabi back in 2021.
The top seed is Daria Kasatkina, but it is hard to imagine the Russian making any serious inroads in Abu Dhabi. She lost quite heavily in the Adelaide final, and perhaps surprisingly at the Australian Open too where she won only two games against Varvara Gracheva.
One player of genuine interest is Anett Kontaveit who will be looking to return to form after a poor start to the season. The Estonian possesses easy power to blow away her opponents on the court. If she can rediscover that winning feeling in the early rounds, she could be a force.
